Driven Women
Don’t peek!

Dear GG—I found your article purely by accident. I am really glad I did, because now I have someone to voice my complaint to. I find it insulting and infuriating that truckers nearly hang themselves out the window to get a good, long look at me. I feel as though I’m driving past mobile x-ray machines! Not to mention that they’re doing this at over 60 mph.
What do I need to do, put a “Do Not Peek” sign on my car? Why can’t they do their job and keep their eyes on the road! I’m a professional, so why can’t they be?
Kay S., Florida
Dear Kay,
Humor me…imagine that you have to meet a customer in an hour, and you’re 40 miles away. Several cars have cut you off, nearly causing you to run off the road. Twenty miles away you hit a construction site, and you are at a standstill. Fifteen minutes later, you get stuck behind a truck going 10 mph up a mountain on a two-lane highway. On the way down, the same truck speeds up to a roaring
25 mph. You’re going to be late.
Do you have the patience and driving skills to manage this scenario? I’d lay odds that you’d have wrecked after the first car cut you off, then lost the business and resigned—all in the same day.
So Kay, let’s be honest. No trucker would be hanging out the window to get a “good, long look at you” unless you were advertising.
Be safe while peeking!
