Schneider named to magazine’s top 125

Schneider National has been named to Training magazine’s Top 125 list of employers for 2007. Schneider was honored for its comprehensive driver training program focused on skill development for its company drivers and its commitment to safety. In other news, Schneider driver Glenda Campbell won the “Woman Trucker Award” by the Orlando Truckers’ Conference, DOTAuthority.com and the Women in Trucking (WIT) Association for demonstrating dedication to the profession and encouraging women to enter the trucking and freight brokerage industries.

Hill Bros. has Volvos for lease

For the first time, drivers at Hill Bros. Transportation can choose to lease a brand-new Volvo tractor. Hill Bros. recently ordered 50 2007 Volvo 780 tractors, in addition to the 2007 Kenworth T-600s and Peterbilt 387s (and pre-owned trucks) already in the program.

Western, Smithway announce agreement

Western Express and Smithway Motor Xpress agreed on a plan for Western to acquire Smithway. The acquisition has been approved by both companies’ boards of directors and is expected to close in the summer of 2007.
