Driven Women

Such a jerk!

Dear GG—Why do some truckers out there have to be such jerks? We’re sabotaging ourselves! One time I pulled out (of a truck stop parking space), and found that my air line had been cut. Who’s looking for cuts in their air and electrical lines when they do a PM? Not me! I lost a day because of it.
I’ve been hearing a lot more stories about this kind of crap. What’s going on that we have to sabotage ourselves? Grow up guys!

Bart, yours is the third note I’ve received this month about truck tampering. From what I’ve gathered, there are two types of drivers causing the problem. First, former disgruntled employees, and second, jerks. Feeling validated?
You may be unaware that your truck has a bull’s eye on it. Talk with other drivers and your dispatcher and inquire about vandalism or tampering issues, and look for patterns. Take precautions in areas that are high-risk, or try to avoid them altogether.
There’s only one precaution for the second type: watch for and report suspicious behavior. If you see someone smiling as they cut the air line, chances are it’s not their truck. Let’s help each other earn a living and stay safe.

     Cheers,
     GG
