CFI honors June Drivers of the Month
CFI honored the following monthly driver award recipients for June 2007: company driver—Thomas Andrews; company team— Ray & Nikki Pierce; contractor driver—Ramon Gonzalez; contractor team—John & Sherri Dillinger. In other news, CFI was named Carrier of the Year by Fellowes Corporation. CFI was recognized for providing 99.5% on-time delivery.

Schneider driver gets truck tricked
Dale Hayden, a long-time driver for Schneider National, was recently featured on CMT’s popular big rig makeover series, “Trick My Truck.” The episode showed how the Chrome Shop Mafia worked their unique brand of magic by transforming Hayden’s 1999 International tractor into a moving tribute to Hayden’s mother, who recently died of breast cancer. In other news, Schneider received an Excellence in Practice Citation from the American Society for Training and Development.

SMX names Golden Driver of the Month
Gary Golden was named May Driver of the Month by Smithway Motor Xpress for his exceptional service and professionalism. Golden has been with SMX since April 2006.

Dart salutes Contractors of the Month
Dart Transit Company announced its May 2007 Contractors of the Month—Mark Daquilla at the Dallas Operating Center and Nate Hammond at the Eagan Operating Center. Contractors of the Month are recognized for their on-time performance, dependability and safety record. Daquilla has been in the trucking industry 25 years and has contracted with Dart since 2005. Hammond has contracted with Dart for 18 of his 45 years in the trucking industry.

Roehl wins ATA award
For the second consecutive year, Roehl Trans-port won the American Trucking Associations’ Excellence in Claims/Loss Prevention Award, based on the ATA’s review of carriers’ claim records and loss prevention efforts. The prestigious national award is open to motor carriers of all types and sizes.

Barr-Nunn participates in Iowa State Fair Parade
Barr-Nunn Transportation, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, participated in the Iowa State Fair, an event that attracts more than a million people. An annual tradition since 1854, the parade featured more than 200 floats, animals, vehicles, novelty and performing units. Barr-Nunn’s entries included a tractor-trailer decorated as a bull and another pulling Barr-Nunn’s “America Supports You” trailer highlighting American support for members of the U.S. Armed Services.

Con-way names new president
Con-way named John G. Labrie as president of Con-way Freight. Labrie was previously senior vice president of strategy and enterprise operations for the company.
