Murphy's World

When life tosses you eggs, make an omelet

The other day I was traveling along the interstate when I came up behind a rig that had a yellowish, milky white ooze seeping out from under the doors of its dry van trailer.
At first I was kind of startled by it. Then I got to thinking that it was some kind of toxic waste leaking out on to the highway.
I checked the backside of the trailer to see if it had a hazmat placard and noticed it didn’t. I was just about ready to get on the CB and tell the driver about it when I realized that it was a truck and trailer from a nearby egg factory.
Knowing that I wasn't following in the path of toxic ooze anymore, I just sat back, relaxed and chuckled about it.

Dear Lee,
Dear Zak,
We’ve all heard the expression, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” In Murphy’s World, we take pride in making the best out of a bad situation, so the lemonade thing is standard operating procedure. Of course, as an over-the-road professional, sometimes you’re thrown a curveball. For example, sometimes you’re thrown eggs instead of lemons, in which case the resourceful driver makes an omelet.
I think you know where I’m going with this.
I’m guessing the driver you observed took a turn for the worse, and in so doing, set a bunch of eggs in motion. OK, I’m glad to hear you were concerned enough about your truck-driving brother to notify him if he had toxic waste oozing out of his trailer, but to get a chuckle out of his misfortune is just not cool. Of course, the thought of someone inadvertently making scrambled eggs out of a load is pretty funny. I just wish I had been there when he reached the dock and opened the trailer door.
     Anyone got a frying pan?
We’re going to give you a pass this time, Zak, because, let’s face it, most truckers have a twisted sense of humor. If we didn’t, we’d all be nuts. Pass the hot sauce.

Regards,

Murphy and Lucky Dog
