Driven Women

I only want Women

While perusing a truckers’ chat room, there was this post from Truckdrive60: “I only want women in my trucks!” Tommy, aka Truckdrive60, is a 43-year-old, divorced gentleman from South Carolina who owns three trucks and
claims to hire only female drivers. Let’s chat with him.

GG: So tell me about your experience in trucking.

Tommy: I’ve been in the business for 18 years, 14 were behind the wheel before I got into a truck accident. Now I’m disabled and manage a small fleet of three trucks.

GG: Why do you prefer women drivers?

Tommy: They don’t lie, cheat or steal as much as men. I’ve had less tickets, more loads delivered on time and less scale tickets. When I had men driving the trucks, the trucks lasted only two years. The women can keep the trucks in good shape for seven years!

GG: That’s great. Is there a downside to having women drivers?

Tommy: They always want to be home around “that time of the month.” I’m too embarrassed to ask them if it really is “that time of the month,” but it’s consistent. Sometimes they get truckers (men) chasing them down the road, so I have to pretend I’m their husband.

GG: Interesting. What are your thoughts on trucker relationships?

Tommy: I think it’s easier for a man to live with a woman driver than it is for a woman to live with a man who drives. My wife always accused me of cheating, and I wasn’t. Turns out she was.

GG: I see. So… what kind of trucks do you have, and can your drivers take them home?

Tommy: Condos…they won’t drive anything else. They take the trucks home, and I haven’t seen them in six months. I figure, they’re out there making money, they should have what they want.

GG: What advice would you give a woman new to trucking?

Tommy: Find a company that will put you with a woman trainer, and read the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Pocketbook.

Keep all 18 rolling safely,
GG
