Arnold Transportation named Carrier of the Year
Wal-Mart Stores recently recognized Arnold Transportation Services as the recipient of the company’s annual “Rising Star Carrier of the Year” award. “Arnold Transportation Services provided outstanding service for Wal-Mart in 2004,” says Tracy Rosser, vice president of Wal-Mart Corporate Traffic. “It is our pleasure to recognize their associates for commitment to quality and customer service.”

Warren honors driver of the month
The Iowa Motor Trucking Association an-nounced that Warren Transport earned a first-place award in IMTA’s truck fleet safety contest as the safest operating carrier in the state in its division during 2004. In other news, Warren announced that Ramiro Cisneros, an independent contractor, has been selected as Sept-ember driver of the month.

Marten Transport’s talented trio
Three Marten Transport drivers company have been named finalists for the 2005 Driver of the Year contest sponsored by the TCA. The trio includes Barry Nauman, Tim Setterlund and Dale Henderson. Setterlund has been with Marten for nearly 25 years and has accumulated more than two million accident-free miles. Nauman has been with Marten for 18 years and also has two million safe miles under his belt. Henderson, recently hired as Marten’s Driver Safety Coordinator, has accumulated more than a million accident-free miles since joining Marten in 1995.

Schneider earns kudos from Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart recognized Schneider National as the recipient of the Wal-Mart’s annual Car-rier of the Year award. “Schneider National provided outstanding intermodal service for Wal-Mart in 2004,” says Tracy Rosser, vice president of Wal-Mart Corporate Traffic. Bill Matteson, vice president and general manager of Intermodal at Schneider, said the award “is a significant honor; one that acknowledges our capability to consistently deliver creative solutions and excellent service.”

Dart purchases driving simulator
Dart Transit purchased a state-of-the-art truck-driving simulator from the Texas Mo-tor Transportation Association. Dart plans to use the simulator to provide drivers with an opportunity to hone their driving skills, to promote the trucking industry to the public, and to use it as a classroom for High-way Watch training, as well as providing business courses for drivers who plan to be-come owner operators.

CalArk and Central Hauling award truck
Artemus Collins, who has been leased on with Central Hauling Company, since April 2004, won a second truck through a program started by CalArk International and Central Hauling Company. CalArk and Central Haul-ing have about 700 drivers competing for the trucks, which are given away every six months. The driver who refers the most drivers that sign on with one of the two carriers is the winner of a free tractor.
