BANDAG GOLF OUTINGS GENERATES OVER $5,000 FOR TRUCKER BUDDY

Truck executives and commercial tire dealers combined a day of fun and fund raising to generate $5,180 for Trucker Buddy International.

A golf outing at the Bandag Fleet Executive Symposium, in Phoenix, Arizona, in February, was responsible for $2,500 of that contribution. Bandag donated $100 in the name of the fleet executive whose shot was closest to the pin as each foursome played hole number 5.

In a second golf outing for the independent commercial tire dealers attending the Bandag Strategic Alliance Business Conference, in Phoenix, an additional $2,680 was donated to Trucker Buddy as the result of mulligan ticket sales to the tournament participants. The mulligan ticket sales generated $1,340, but Bandag matched that contribution with an additional $1,340.

Trucker Buddy International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping educate and mentor school children via a pen pal relationship between professional truck drivers and children in grades 2-8. Trucker Buddy matches classes of students with professional trucker drivers. Every week drivers share news about their travels with their class. Once a month, students write letters to their drivers. Students’ skills in reading, writing, geography, mathematics, social studies, and history are enhanced and learning is fun. Since 1992, Trucker Buddy has helped educate over a million schoolchildren and introduced them to caring, compassionate men and women, professional truck drivers.

Bandag, Incorporated is a strong supporter of Trucker Buddy’s mentoring approach to helping children learn and become more familiar with the trucking industry and its contributions to keeping our economy rolling.

This is the third consecutive year that Bandag has made contributions to Trucker Buddy via the golf outings.
