OTA Names First Woman Safety Professional of the Year
Jeana Hysell of Classic Carriers, Inc. became the first woman to receive the Ohio Trucking Association’s (OTA) annual Safety Professional of the Year award on April 25.
Hysell started her career in trucking as a driver. A back injury took her off the road, but started her down the path to safety management. She has since earned a Master’s in Safety Management, as well as Certified Director of Safety and Certified Safety Supervisor credentials.
Randy Forbes, general manager at Classic Carriers, wrote in Hysell’s nomination, “When Jeana came on the scene [at Classic Carriers], she took the bull by the horns and began to implement drastic changes. The changes she made did not fare very well with drivers at first, but as time went on, they began to see the rewards the changes generated.”
Outside the office, Hysell’s diverse activities range from serving on the OTA Board of Trustees to volunteering to work the No-Zone safety display at the Ohio State Fair. She is also an active member of the TCA Communications & Image Policy Committee.
Classic Carriers has been a member of TCA since 1997.
